Paradise Stories and Other Chinese chinoiserie
Sorry for this somewhat prolonged absence but the week passed like a snap.
Chiang Mai has the sweet charm of the towns ... a quieter life, a historic center that is walkable, less car ... less pollution! These few days have been devoted to rest and visit a few craft shops that abound. Chiang Mai is a major center of crafts in the south-east Asia. It includes crafts hilltribe in Thailand but also Laos and China, which is a few kilometers. Many Store and offer fair trade products that keep the arts such as wood carving, weaving, natural dyeing, production of mulberry tea ... Every weekend, downtown becomes pedestrian and villagers descended on the streets to sell their production. Amid the many wonders of the stalls, so we take time to stroll while enjoying the quail eggs, fresh mangoes, grilled tofu, juice, guava ... or for the more adventurous braised insects!
Chiang also had to be the place to get Chinese visas ... yet it would appear that China is really warm welcome for Europeans open arms (too wide an audience as the Dalai Lama?) must now provide a list of documents that record a little closer to rent an apartment in Paris! Bank account statements, proof of employment, insurance, hotel reservations ... and so on. I was already not very enthusiastic with regard to China but then I lost all desire ... It may well be that the journey takes an unexpected turn so (this is waiting for the trip after all) and Bali or some other country take the place of China ... few weeks of thinking eventually to clarify all that ...
Meanwhile, I'm back feet in the grass in the mountains this time in this association that I told you about. Panya project a paradise mounted by a group of motivated people around organic farming and construction of earth ... Yesterday I did spend a few hours painting the walls of a house with a mixture of sand and pigments. The smooth curves of the houses in the ground is very pleasant for us who know only the walls at right angles. The speed with which we can build a small house is pretty amazing. There is much to learn and much to do here and we enjoy the hot hours of the day to make up ... because the night temperatures drop quickly and it must be four blankets to keep from freezing!
Internet is slow here ... but I try to give you news soon.
